Hi, I'm Emily Maljanian

I'm the founder of Wordsmith Services, specializing in writing, editing, and communication coaching. I love language and I'm passionate about people. My mission is to help you be more confident about the words that make up your life, work, and story.

Mission

Wordsmith Services started in 2022 with the mission to help people communicate with confidence. It began with my passion for language and my love for the written word. But effective communication is SO much more than that!

In 2025 I began creating donor care resources for Christian missionaries. The focus of my ministry work is to empower Christian missionaries to communicate well with their supporters, creating meaningful

partnerships and stronger funding.

I am open to writing, editing, or collaboration on a variety of projects, but I have a special interest in creative nonfiction, memoirs, Christian nonfiction, and copywriting for ministry and nonprofit projects.

Professional Background

2023: I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a BA in Spanish and Communications and a minor in Professional Writing.

2022: I founded Wordsmith Services and quickly expanded to help aspiring students in Uzbekistan apply to American universities and achieve their goals and dreams. My first clients were students and missionaries.

2020: I worked at the University of Wyoming Writing Center for three years, helping students across disciplines create, workshop, and polish their personal and academic projects.

On a personal note...

I was a "word person" long before I could write.

I composed odes to mushrooms at age two.

I loved my birthday because another year=another library book each week (a house rule meant to tame the towering stacks of checkouts).

I wrote and wrote and wrote until I graduated college with degrees in writing and communication.

But I was a grammarian-in-training long before that:

-editing papers at red lights while driving my sisters home from high school

-complaining about the misuse of commas on the bathroom posters

-buying a typewriter with a backspace button, so my own mistakes were hidden with correction tape

Statement of Faith

I believe that God created the world with his words. He spoke and the universe came to be.

Genesis 1:27 says that we are created in His image, and I want to use words to bless, encourage, strengthen, and create, just as the Bible shares that he did.

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Jeremiah 1:7-9 "But the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,' declares the Lord. Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, 'I have put my words in your mouth.'" Words are SO powerful!

Through editing, writing, and communication coaching services, I want to help you use words well. God has given us a story to share with the world, and I am excited to be part of His work.

Just as goldsmiths work with gold, I work with words.

My maiden name, Smith, was the perfect foundation: Word+Smith=Wordsmith.
